What can you say other than a TON of Mai Tais are being consumed. I will expect to have more photos up tomorrow.

Photo Illustration – San Diego Comic-Con 2011

I was asked to put this together for an unnamed magazine that ended up not using it. So why not stick it up here, right? The Con this year attracted at least 125,000 people. Most in costume. I usually shoot a large photo gallery, but this years assignment from The Daily, focused on 360 degree interactive panoramas.

San Diego Comic-Con 2011

The Con has begun, and it is bigger than ever. It was so hard getting around today. Add two cameras, a backpack filled with gear a huge tripod and about 20 miles of walking and that equals one tired soul. Some 360 interactive photos I did for The Daily in New York should be up soon (check their blog) And I saw an old buddy from high school who is now drawing the Dark Night Comic book. All in all, great day. Damn my feet hurt. KAHHHHHN! Oh, I mean, CON!

Harbor Drive Bridge

Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge, San DiegoHave you ever wondered wht 26.8 Millon dollars looks like? Wonder no more. In fact you can walk on it in the form of the new Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge. It is a think of beauty and a landmark that San Diegans can be proud of. Not like that hideous giant eyesore next to the USS Midway, the sailor kissing the nurse. Blech. The bridge is supposed to be one of the longest self-anchored suspension bridges for pedestrians in the US. Although I would question why a suspension bridge is at all necessary there, it is stunning.

The Prophet

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil – prophet still, if bird or devil!

By that Heaven that bends above us – by that God we both adore –

Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,

It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore –

Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.”

Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore.”

Jake The Boston Terrier

While dog sitting my parents dog, or what they refer to as my younger brother, I found in my garage an old 100mm macro lens. I though I would take  a few snaps of the little guy and test out the sharpness of the lens.

Bayfront Hilton Hotel ~ San Diego

The other night while waiting for the fireworks to begin, there was this huge party going on right across the bay from me. I thought I was set up in the perfect position to capture the 4th of July show. While I was waiting I trained my camera on the party and the host happened to be the Bayfront Hilton. As it turned out, I was not in the right position for the fireworks show at all. But, I got a few shots of this 4 star hotel then moved to where I could snap some pyrotechnics.

4th of July in San Diego

The Fam was way to tired to go out and see the fireworks. It was the perfect opportunity to grab the old clicker box and capture some fire shooter thingies. So, how did I do? They were shot at the embarcadero on the San Diego bay.

Republic of Letters

I remember when I was first starting AmplifySD (the now defunct internet radio station that played only San Diego bands 24/7).  There was this one band that sent me a bunch of magnetic letters and a few stickers and their EP, Spirit of a Ghost.  I was pretty impressed by their haunting melodies and thoughtful lyrics. I have been a fan ever since. Thursday night they played at the House of Blues in San Diego, and I just happened to have my camera with me. This is the result.

Old Highway 80

I decided to take a drive east today to see what I could find. This building off of Old Highway 80 caught my attention. It reminded me of that Talking Heads song Nothing but Flowers. Entropy at its finest.
